So dad and I went to the car lot to look at the car he and my mom thought I should get (which was btw a really awesome car, was fairly priced and had under 100,000 miles on it), but someone beat us to the punch and had purchased it shortly after my parents left the day before. :’( We went driving around to look at other used cars, and did find a place that had one that seemed pretty good (a bit more expensive but with much less miles on it). We checked it out and it looked and drove great, but… You know when something feels like it’s too good to be true? We kind of got the feeling from that car. It was nice, but both of us felt that something might have happened to it to make it so cheap.

A quick search online showed a car that cost just under a thousand dollars more, but was much, muuuuch better and sold by a more reputable place, so I think I’m just going to have to save up more and hope they’ll have it when I’m ready for it. ;w; Either way, the search continues…

Out of curiousity, what kind of cars do you all like? I’m rather partial to Volkswagen models myself (specifically the Beetle and Jetta). I’ve seen firsthand how good those crumple zones of theirs work in an accident, and like the security of the newer vehicles. Also Beetles just look awesome, okay? XD

Whew, I think I’ve been gone from tumblr for at least… a week and a half? Perhaps more? Anyhow, I have obviously missed a lot. I hope you’re all doing well. ♥♥♥

The reason I’ve been offline (at least in regards to tumblr and some other old haunts of mine) is just because I couldn’t remember my password and was too lazy to look it up after I finally upgraded the ol’ computer. Said computer is very nice, and I hope I do not have to bother with such a hassle for a long, looooooong time. But yes, it runs well and there have been no issues as of yet. :)

While I love you all, it was… nice, I think, to be offline for the most part. For one, it let me see how much time I was dedicating to scrolling through posts on tumblr (which, mind you, was a lot). Secondly, this new window of time allowed me to do other things which I had been wanting to do for some time (such as drawing!). Not that I have anything to show for it, but oh well. I know I have a higher res version of a picture I’d done for a character app that I could upload, but I’m hoping to draw something nicer before that.

Work has been an amazing failure, and the job hunt, which has been on and off the past few months, is now in full swing. I’ve talked with the store manager and a person from human resources, to no avail. I only see the department (and in a roundabout way, the company as a whole) going down a hole, and I am eager to get away as soon as possible, for fear that I may end up on an episode of Snapped! one day. While I may pass jokes about homicide and violence about some folks, I find that these feelings are more often than not genuine when concerning certain people at work, and feel it would be prudent to remove myself from such a negative situation before I feel I am forced to act on these feelings.

To put things short on why I wish to leave: It has been made clear to me that nobody in corporate wants to do anything to fix the problem in our department, and that human resources doesn’t believe that the problem is as bad at it is. I am (as well as several coworkers) are taken advantage of, talked down to, and essentially treated like shit on a regular basis, and any attempt to bring this to the light ends up with us being shut down. My department manager is doing her damndest to force another coworker to either change her job availability or quit, even going so far as to use shoddy scare tactics and lying. The assistant manager is even worse for reasons I shall not touch up on, and I am constantly leaving work drained, both physically and emotionally.

Nobody should have to go through this, so I’m looking for a way out. And I’ll do my best to help some other coworkers find a way out, because they deserve better, too. Wish us luck! If things go our way, we’ll all be handing in our two weeks notice within a week of one another. While I usually do not wish suffering upon others, I will have to make the exception for those certain people mentioned in my department. It’s about time they reap what they sowed.

On a more positive note, I finally saw Wreck-It-Ralph today, and it was fantastic. Tomorrow (or today, who knows), sis and I will watch Rise of the Guardians, another movie we’d been waiting for. P: We’re really excited.

I’d type more, but this post just keeps getting longer and longer, and my eyes hurt something awful. I’ll let you all be and probably go to sleep. You all have a wonderful time! ♥♥♥

Official Monster Hunter eyeglasses by Alook. Each frame is inspired by a monster from the series. I’m pretty embarrassed about this, but I, uh, kind of like some of them. I suspect I would look reasonably okay in those blue and green Bracchidios frames. And I like the Felyne frames a lot, though both the paw print design and the Monster Hunter tie-in would put me in danger of a conversation starting about my face.

I’m not going to go so far as to figure out how to order some ¥10,500 video game-themed glasses from Japan. I’m just saying.

In other news, SAILOR MOON! Because Paprika won’t go to bed unless she’s absorbed enough heat from my body and chewed my chair’s armrest sufficiently, I’ve taken to reading the manga online. I think the only time I’ve looked at it before was some time in high school, back when it everything was mirrored? I must say, it’s a lot better than I thought it would be. I just… So this is what Sailor Moon is like without filler. I definitely like Mamoru a lot better in the manga. You can really see why Usagi loves him so much.

I also love that at this point, I have zero fucks to give about what others think of certain characters, so I don’t feel like I’m obligated to ‘dislike’ Chibiusa or some of the other characters because a friend isn’t fond of them. *loves all the characters*

Also HOT DAMN, TAKEUCHI. Her art is so lovely. I definitely have a better appreciation for her work, especially those large ornate illustrations she does. Just… yes, yes. Me gusta. e H e ♥♥♥

More pics of the pup! Sadly I didn’t get that many, since I spent most of it in a zombie like daze (lol no sleep the first night). She also has this amazing ability to not stand still, not even when she’s pooping.

Speakin’ of poops, her’s are the stinkiest I’ve smelled on a dog yet. She also burps and farts so much that I think she’s a reincarnated relative from my dad’s side of the family.

I mean, seriously, she’ll squat outside like she wants to poop, but all she will do is fart. Heaven help you if you are standing where the wind will take it.

You can’t really see it in the photos, but one side of her face has white whiskers, and the other a mix of black and some white ones. She also has this super tiny black spot on her back (not a stain, it’s actual coloring), and has this white spot on her left ear. She really is a cutie (except when she pees on the carpet underneath my drawing and computer desk). I need to get a video of her happy dance that she does when we wait for her kibble to soak in water before we give it to her.

Today she discovered the joys of a kong toy filled with a bit of kibble and some peanut butter. And apparently all of my clothes taste delicious to her. I let her keep the one she chewed on the most.

I do have to apologize for the crappy quality of the pictures, though. She is such a wiggleworm, and I am shit with cameras in general.

Hey there. owo/ Today was a somewhat productive day off. Spent most of it assembling a new sewing desk for mom. She was quite pleased with it, so that alone makes it worth it. I let her have my squishy desk chair, since the height of the table and the chair was a perfect match.

Here’s day two of sketches. It’s kinda NSFW because of dongage, I guess? But it’s so scribbly, you’d have a hard time even seeing it. It’s like it censors itself. :’D

I also love how once I think my arm doesn’t hurt anymore, I wake up and suddenly my shoulder is like “LOL HERE HAVE SOME PAIN.” Also fuck chemical burns. :/

Hi there, how’s everyone doing? Things are okay on my end. Could be better, but could definitely be worse. I’m looking for a new job, but won’t quit the old one until I found one that I can jump into right away. My department manager is going to be in for a rude awakening, I guess. =w=;;

But hey, that’s what happens when you’re a manager and you treat your employees like shit. (= 7 =)/ I’m not paid enough to deal with that bullshit, and have run out of patience. I’m tired of feeling like shit every time I come home from work and having no drive to do the things I like to do anymore.

Art-wise, I’m a mess. Haven’t drawn all that much, and what I do draw is garbage. I’ve regressed terribly, and am in for a long trek to get back to where I once was. At least my arm’s not hurting as much anymore?

I have no idea how you folks can draw so much. I just… I look at a piece of paper and my mind blanks, and I give up. It’s kind of disappointing. Oh well. Time to get crackin’! I need to stop being so mopey and get something DONE for a change. Easier said than done, no?

Well, here’s hoping that I can get something, even shit like this, done every day.

if this picture took less than an hour to draw, $7 is about the bare minimum level of reasonable compensation. if it took the artist any longer than that, they are being underpaid for the amount of time they spent.

why are people constantly fucking bitching and crying about artists getting paid “too much” for their skilled labor, while nobody ever pitches a fit about the fact you can make $8.81 an hour standing in front of a door and saying hello to people

do people even have any concept of how little minimum wage actually is? even a full time minimum wage job is going to get you 1200-1500 dollars a month tops, and most positions that hire at minimum wage are going to be part time to avoid having to actually give you any benefits like health insurance (and freelance artists still have to pay for their own health insurance even when they’re working well over 40 hours a week, which is exorbitantly fucking expensive to buy individually). go look at craigslist for the prices of renting apartments in your area and see how comfortable a life you’ll have working 8 dollars an hour when you factor in the prices of food, transportation, taxes, the out-of-pocket medical bills you’ll have to pay, clothes, etc.. even if you cram yourself into apartment with a billion other people it can be hard

nobody ever argues that walmart greeters don’t deserve to make the bare minimum living wage for the work that they do because for some reason people believe training an ability for your whole fucking life and then spending countless hours creating individualized pieces to the specification of your commissioners is easier and of less value to society than saying hello to people who walk into a walmart

Most professional artists, be it any kind of illustrator or graphic designer, usually gets paid quadruple the price that the image says. That’s right the average at the very minimum for professional artists is around $28 an hour. No goddamn fooling. It’s not the image that you are paying for, it is the time and the skill put into it.

I get this a lot at artist alleys, prevalently anime cons, when people complain that I charge too much for extra characters or other things. Honestly $7 for that is an amazing deal considering I charge $60 for the same thing at conventions. And even I’m cheap in comparison to some guys at comic conventions. You want expensive?

This is a con sketch by Adam Hughes. Adam Hughes charges $500 for a con sketch. $500. That’s as many as around ten of mine, and around 71 of this person’s from the artist confession.

So please, next time you complain about ‘why someone would pay $x for something’, go draw it yourself.
